Apollonia was one of the most important cities of ancient Illyria and its ruins spread over an olive-covered hill near Fier. The walk starts at St Mary's monastery, which also houses the archaeological museum, crosses the agora with the Monument of the Agonothetes, the odeon and Stoa B, climbs to the theatre and ends at the nymphaeum, the city's monumental fountain. About 2 hours. Entry is ticketed. With time to spare, add Ardenica Monastery, about 20 minutes away by car.
