The obelisk stands in the center of Lezhë, at Besëlidhja Square, commemorating the League of Lezhë of March 2, 1444, when Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg brought together Albanian princes in an alliance against the Ottoman Empire. The monument is made of 346 limestone blocks and features a marble panel with Skanderbeg’s shield and helmet, surrounded by eight swords.
