Beyond Gjirokastër another world begins: stone villages in Lunxhëri, old bridges and the wild Zagoria valley, a nature park with brown bears, wolves and golden eagles. Start at the Viroi spring near town, cross the Lunxhëri bridge and climb to Doftia Lake. Doshnica waterfall, about 15 to 20 metres high, sits in the heart of Zagoria. The mountain roads are narrow: a high-clearance car helps.
